i don't think they'll know unless you bring your phone in and show it to them.
from what i have read they really don't care, they just might not warranty your phone anymore if you end up having a problem.
With an open source phone I would hope that they would not care. Although i could see with overclocking and such that we are taxing our hardware more than stock. but i figure I am paying for the insurance so if i do something to my phone i should be able to use it. Not to mention i have been known for running over my phones or falling in canals stumbling home from the bar
First off they would have to see the phone to know if it is rooted.
now i can only speak from my experience of the vzw stores in LA that i have visited but the techs are dumb. they would have no idea how to check or what to do.
Thats what i was thinking just tell them it fell in the lake or something clever where you wouldnt be able to retrieve it. just needing to make sure that unless they see the phone its self they cant tell if you root it.
well since i pretty much know how to do everything short of replacing a faulty phone the only time i am ever going to a vzw store is to buy a phone or get a replacement phone.
I remember them feeding me some crap about why the trackball on my tour wasnt working and it was software related (obviously it wasnt) so i went home, wiped out the OS to get 527 error on the screen and went back. they exchanged the phone isntantly
I don't think they care very much or they would not allow "rooted" applications in their market place. Verizon makes a percentage of each app that is bought. Follow the money.
