How to *completely* get back to stock

AllDroid - View topic - How to *completely* get back to stock (no su, no busybox) <------- That's the link to the info below. Or you can just read it here.

How to *completely* get back to stock (no su, no busybox)
    Download this: http://downloads.sholes.info/update.zip

Place it in the root of your sdcard, so /sdcard/update.zip

If you're still on the stock recovery, choose "apply sdcard:update.zip"

If you're using sprecovery, choose "install", then "Allow update.zip installation", then "Install /sdcard/update.zip (depreciated). After it's done, go back to the root menu and choose "wipe cache partition" (It's also a good idea to wipe data/factory reset also, but not necessary). Reboot when that's done, and when you reboot, you'll be completely back to stock (no su, no busybox, no nothing).

    Easy peasy.

(Note: This is re-rootable, so you can always root it again if you wish)
If you see the ninja you are rooted.

Do I lose all my settings and applications I downloaded or does it go back to where it was before I rooted?

I did root only using update.zip previous, do I do the first option? Am I going to lose any installed stuff by using this un root process?

Did this, didn't seem to do anything other than reset my background. Still has buglessbeast and super user permissions.

This same zip is also available in the 5.00 one on the market. I used it last night to return to 2.0.1.

One hitch I ran across, and it was a biggie. For some reason when it returned my Droid back to 2.0.1 I lost all voice application features. I had to do a return to factory settings wipe. Once I did that voice settings returned.

I imagine if you use the zip at the Sholes site the same thing will happen. It's not a big deal, ALL of my apps returned immediately I didn't have to download anything. But you will lose any data so you may want to back that up.

I have been trying to remove the root for days and I keep getting the same problem. It aborts installation of update.zip saying E: failed signature verification. I can't install any ROM, stock or otherwise. I have verified the format of update.zip but nothing works. Any ideas?
