Ouch. I've noticed my phone turning on and going into car/dock mode at strange times as well, and I think it's because there are magnets nearby. There's some part in my laptop that's magnetized, so when I set the phone down just right, it goes into car mode. Also, there's a magnetized bus pass in my wallet (which I always place on my desk, under my phone, when I'm not using either of them), but it's weak enough that it only wakes the phone about 10% of the time. So it's more of an amusement in my case than a nuisance. :/

If possible try turning the phone around in the case (either left to right or back to front). That has worked for others.

there's also a great app out there called dock blocker that disables those magnets.
