Question about installing a new ROM, wiping data in conjuction with using Titanium BU

I've been installing ROMs for several years...OG Droid, TBolt and now GNexus. I'm pretty good at getting through the process of rooting and installing ROMs. But I just recently purchased Titanium Backup and trying to understand the best way to use it.

So I always wipe data and cache when I install a new rom. I have occasionally had success with new versions of ROMs without wiping Data but it always seems to work better when I do wipe.

Now I need to understand what I can get away with if I am using Titanium Backup. Is there any point in wiping if I am doing a system restore from the latest backup I have. I'm thinking if I don't wipe I can get into the market quicker to reinstall Titanium so I can get the restore running sooner. I can see this saving me a few minutes in the process.
