    You are getting driver issues. Sounds as though they are not installed, here's the drivers you would need to properly sbf flash the droid:
    usbdriver.zip
    After you sbf flash, it will need to be reactivated by dialing *228. If you have service currently and no replacement device right now, I suggest you wait doing this until your new one is activated for your plan.

    Thank you all for the files and the advice! Everything worked properly and I now have an original Motorola Droid ready for a new first-time smartphone user. The community on this board is fantastic.
