    contacts wont come back after rooting!? please help

    I rooted my friends HTC evo4g I made sure to sync with gmail before doing a factory reset and complete wipe. also we erased his sd card after backing its contents up to my comp. The phone is rooted (s-off) and Cwm recovery. but no contacts?? i went in and toggled the sync option several times and rebooted still nothing! idk i would really appreciate any help ik this phone isnt supported here but there are some very knowledgeable folks that frequent this forum! Thanx again
