adb format "mtd: not erasing bad block at 0x......"?

Something I can do about this? I was using the "format SYSTEM:"as recommended for the smoked theme rom. I get this error for 8 different blocks.

That means you have some bad blocks in your internal NAND chip. I'm not sure about the droid specifically but I know of some other phones that when you load a new ROM it supposed to detect and tag bad blocks as it writes the new rom into memory. My best guess is installing a complete ROM (not sure if a simple nandroid recovery will do) might be your best bet. In the end if your chip is really crapping out, hope you got insurance/warranty to get another. BTW rooting had nothin to do with it.
