Replace Stock Contacts.apk with Go Contacts

My goal is- replace the stock contacts.apk with Go Contacts, but numbers to be recognized when I receive calls open texts etc etc.

I have done some research but I can't find anything saying how to do this. I really don't want to dive into code without a guide, yet I know the only way to really get anywhere in the tech world is to get my hands dirty.

I'm sure this has been done, I would like a little points in the right directions, as I am jumping rather deep for have just rooted my phone 6 hours ago.

Any pointers suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated.
