Renaming Apps in App window

OK, truly I do apologize if I missed this discussion elsewhere. Also...this seems like a hack, so I believe it belongs here =)

I would like to rename an app in my app drawer. Say for example

"Google Translate"

I'd like to instead rename it to "Translate" (or anything else).

How would I go about doing such a thing?

---Also...can the icon be changed as well?

I was thinking though...in a more "free" solution. Although 2$ really isn't much...this is for one icon and one app. I'd just as soon uninstall it than pay to change it's face.

I don't mind getting a bit down and dirty with the programs. I do have it rooted and have sholes 1.1 installed.

Admittedly, I do not know linux commands other than the basic stuff (VERY basic). Just what I gleaned from the boards here.
