Thanks guys, works great. Couldn't fine the .obex, but I went on with the procedures and it worked. Why wouldn't I have the .obex version of the Browser file.

is it normal to get ' permission denied ' after each command entered? or is it wrong? thanks.

the reason you cant find the .obex is because its a .odex with a D, you should be able to mount and do the one line you missed if it starts causing any problems

and you probably arent rooted if it is saying permission denied

Now for the droid multitouch browser. Download the file from this link

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

and extract it. copy both browser.apk and libwebmtcore.so to the root of your sd card. Then download Terminal Emulator for free from the Android Market. Launch it and type these commands in one at a time and press the enter key (the button directly below delete on the hard keyboard) after each one.

    su
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    rm /system/app/Browser.odex
    cat /sdcard/Browser.apk > /system/app/Browser.apk
    cat /sdcard/libmtwebcore.so > /system/lib/libmtwebcore.so
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    reboot

*Note: when i typed the rm /system/app/Browser.odex it said file does not exist, yet it still worked for me. Some people say this could cause problems down the line, but if it didnt exist in the first place on my phone (i checked ) than it is basically deleted.
i actually made the original apk and odex into .bak files that way i could go back if i wanted to, of course i did a nandroid backup too but i figured it couldnt hurt to have a backup without the nandroid

if anyone is interested i entered this into adb, or terminal

    su
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    mv /system/app/Browser.odex /system/app/Browser.odex.bak
    mv /system/app/Browser.apk /system/app/Browser.apk.bak
    cat /sdcard/Browser.apk > /system/app/Browser.apk
    cat /sdcard/libmtwebcore.so > /system/lib/libmtwebcore.so
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    reboot

and just to report my browser does have multi touch and it seems to be working very well
Thanks, I did it this way and it's running great. What is the auto fit glitch mentioned somewhere in this post?

The auto fit glitch was just that on the multi touch browser RC2 it wasn't working, but on the current RC3 it works, so either way its no big deal

Yeah I tried this last night and I love the milestone browser!! There is almost no lag whatsoever compared to the stock browser of the droid...its running great and I still have the double tap zoom if I ever need it! I didn't think there would be much difference in the milestone browser performance-wise, since their both essentially the same device, but I gotta say I am very impressed with the performance of this browser

tried this method without the backup (just made a nandroid backup) and the browser doesn't seem to work properly. I can't get pinch to zoom to work or double tap to zoom, only scrolling seems to work. Any ideas?

If you made a nandroid backup then just restore to that and try again

I have tried that (restoring nandroid backup and retrying the process) and everytime I try it (3 times now) same thing happens; browser opens and I can scroll but no multitouch or doubltap to zoom...
