Can anyone Help rooting vortex 2.2.2

Hey guys im new to the androids and I read up on rooting and it sounds like somthing I need to do to get full functionality of my phone. Problem is I cant figure out how to do it. Im running 2.2.2 and what I read some say I can do it as is some say I have to downgrade. I looked on youtube and still cant figure it out. Im familair with jailbreaking so I know the basics of exploits and stuff. I just need someone to guide me in the right direction.any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.
