Rooted D2G (Froyo) - update to Gingerbread?

My phone is rooted, and I love the freedom with it. My son has a 1st gen Droid (not rooted). This morning, he told me that he just updated his phone. I've no idea if they've released the Gingerbread update for my phone, or not. I've been wondering what to do when that day finally comes. Can I update this rooted phone? Or, more specifically, if I can, are there other steps I need to do, beforehand?

Thanks for the reply, but it's not a "Xoom". It's a Droid 2 Global.

I have a rooted droid 2 and the update installed with no problems. I do have to re-root the the phone now though.

You can update if you haven't bootstrapped, but you will have to re-root.

Installed the update on my Droid 2. z4root, gingerbreak, and superoneclick all failed to root after the update. Ended up doing an SBF rollback. I liked the new interface but can't live without my root access, especially since the update re-installs all that worthless bloatware. I'll wait until a new exploit comes out before I consider the upgrade again.

D3 one click (or the adb method for D3) works universally on all Moto GB or lower devices. I rooted GB via adb.

Wonder how many more times this needs to be repeated.

Dunno, but I *did* search for the answer before I posted. I sfb'd back to stock, and then Verizon shoved the update back on me. I'll give the D3 a look. Thanks.

What if you have already bootstrapped, like me? I want the update, but the bootstrap prevents me from finishing the install. What can i do?
