clockworkmod recovery version specific to phones?

Well it's pretty much like this. I have rom manager premium on an original droid which is the best money I've ever spent on the market. When I open the program it says that the latest and installed version of recovery is 2.5.0.1. I have seen many clockwork mod recoveries that are much later versions and also easier/more features. I'm curious if these are phone specific or if my rom manager isn't updating the recovery properly? Any ideas?

Yes recoveries are phone specific. same as roms. if you install rommanger it either figures out or has you choose your phone. than it lists up the compatbile recoveries and roms for that phone.
all phoens memories, ram allotments and assignments are different.
the droids recovery is old since it works and there isnt any reason to change it so its build number for recovery will be much lower than say the thunderbolt.
