I’m tired, I’m frustrated, and I have work tomorrow morning. I apologize to the Mods if this thread is in the wrong place, but it’s the only place I found to put it. Please bear with me.
I’ve had the Droid X for about a year now and I’m tired of it freezing, chugging, and just generally causing strife. I’ve tried to optimize it’s performance as best as I could (deleting useless apps, keeping my media [pictures, music, video] to a minimum, as few auto-update widgits as possible, etc) but it became too much a few days ago, and I’ve decided to root it. I plan to root it and install a faster OS. Keep in mind that I don’t know how to do any of these things but I’m willing to follow directions.
I plan to root the phone using the method listed here:Motorola Droid: Full Update Guide - CyanogenMod Wiki
I plan to use the OS called: cyanogenmod
And I hope that works properly.
Now while I can replace any videos, pictures, or music that get deleted in the rooting process, an application that I got with the phone “Navigation” is one I use frequently and don’t want to lose.
How can I root the phone, install the new OS, and yet still have Navigation? Thank you all for your help as I have been everywhere searching for this information and have found nothing.
(running Android 2.3.3)
