    Getting weird adb out put

When I do adb shell from my command prompt (Windows 7 if it matters), I get this as my prompt:

    Code:
    ←[01m[←[01;31mroot@droid←[01;37m]←[01;34m / #←[00m
It is rooted. Anyone seen this? Know of a fix?

I figured it wasn't a problem and tried to reboot recovery from that prompt, but it tells me applet not found. Will a nandroid restore fix this?

Looks like your running the Sholes.2.0.1 Sholes.info Edition 1.0 ROM. This is not an issue, this was added to su.
Try it in a terminal emulator

The emulator works fine. It scared me when I saw the different prompt and couldn't do reboot recovery. Why would they remove that? That's weird.

To clean up that prompt, enter this inside adb shell

    export PS1='root@droid # '

To reboot into recovery, give the full path:

    /system/bin/reboot recovery

    Same issue - confusing

Thanks for asking this question - I am getting this also. Really makes the screen confusing. When you try to follow the directions, adb shell cannot be found, adb root, etc all cannot be found. I was looking for a different setting as I know that various shells offer different prompts but this one takes the cake!! If you do an ls, all hope is lost of making sense of what you are looking at as it is a jumble.

Going to try the recommended fix... Let you know.

    Thanks

I got this kind of gibberish output when trying to use adb commands (while my Droid was in the recovery console) when I forgot to mount the /sdcard and /system partitions. I think they're mounted automatically when you're booted into the OS. So... if you're in the recovery console, try mounting them, and see if you still get gibberish output.
