[How to] Back to stock (2.0.1) the easy way.

After following the directions in the post here I decided that there had to be a better way, so I made this image. Very simple to restore just extract the image to your nandroid folder, when selecting what backup to restore to make sure that all options are selected (Boot, Cache, Data, Misc, Recovery, System). After that one simple step you should be completely stock. No root, no busybox, no custom recovery. EXACTLY how it was out of the box. Please test and let me know if it works for you.

*!* WARNING EXTREME STEP BY STEP TO FOLLOW *!*
Step 1. download rom here
Step 2. extract rar file to the nandroid folded on your phones sd card.
Step 3. reboot into recovery mode. (power phone off, slide keyboard open, press and hold "X", power on phone.
Step 4. select "backup/restore"
Step 5. select "advanced nandroid restore"
Step 6. select "choose backup"
Step 7. select "2.0.1-stock-no-root-no-busybox-no-sholes-v4-BCDMRS-20100115-0421"
Step 8. make sure "restore boot" "restore cache" "restore data" "restore misc" "restore recovery" "restore system" are all checked (*)
Step 9. select "perform restore"
Step 10. press back (power) 3 times
Step 11. select "reboot system now"
Step 12. ENJOY!!

The sholes recovery version still has root, busybox, and nandroid.

Assuming his version doesn't, then it's a 1 step process and would be sweet.

Curious how u can remove nandroid while doing a nandroid recovery though, just sounds wrong, hehe.

Oh and the 2.01 update you are talking about isn't a recovery image. it's the original update .zip to go from 2.0 to 2.01 I believe.

Yes it is as that file is only the 2.0 to 2.0.1 update that was sent OTA

My image does NOT include root, busybox, or nandroid. As i said in the first post EXACTLY as it was out of the box

Making the recovery image get rid of nandroid did take a bit to figure out. and yes it most defiantly does sound wrong using nandroid to get rid of nandroid.

Is there any way to back up all sms and apps before doing this? I need to get rid of the wifi tether to fix the auto brightness, but I want to keep all my apps and texts.

This should work, I've already done the same thing, taken the virginoem 2.0.1 from sholes, which is stock + busybox + root. I've removed busybox and root and restored the original recovery image. Works great. I believe he has done the same thing. From there, to get back, I had to root first, then install the 0.99.2b recovery image, you get the rest ...

yea you can back up your stuff. I am not too sure of a free way to do this but what I did was downloaded MyBackup Pro (not sure how much but its worth it). It will back up all your apps and all your data (call log, contacts, sms, mms, etc..) and put all of it on your sdcard. It will also allow you to back up your data (not apps) onto the internet. Then what you do is once your phone is where you want it to be, then go to the market and re-download MyBackup Pro and choose the restore button. SUPER easy!!!
