GingerBreak on Droid Charge

I recently got a Droid Charge from Verizon and was trying to root it using gingerbreak. However, I foolishly installed the firmware update which seems to have updated my kernel. Now gingerbreak gets hung up and never gives me root. I know that gingerbreak works on the charge without the update but I cant figure out how to undo it. Any ideas on reverting the kernel update? Or on making gingerbreak work for Charge phones with the udated kernel?

I was like you, and I just got my charge rooted. Read what William said here (in the comments) How to Root Samsung Droid Charge – Tutorial | Android Advices

use odin on the site he links ROOT METHOD - [ODIN] Stock Rooted ED1 (downgrade from ED2) and the supplied md5 file to roll back to the earlier version. once you do that, you can root using adb and gingerbreak like you find in all the droid charge rooting tutorials across the net
