    Question Android Open Source Project: Droid Firmware?

    Ok I already know how to program (c, c++, Java), so I want to try and contribute to Moding the Droid. If I download the latest code from source.android.com and compile it will it run on my droid? is there a place to get phone specific drivers? I want to help with 2.1 and beyond.

    Making an app is not enough for me, I want to roll my own OS... I just dont know where to start

    No a hacker myself but Id suggest the developer forum here on alldroid and especially xda
