It's the same processor that is in the iPhone and it wasn't underclocked. I believe that's also the case with the Palm Pre. If you're worried about messing up your phone, I wouldn't do it. You probably shouldn't root it either. If it does mess up something, I won't be sending you a new Droid!
Sure, but how are they cooling the CPU on the other phone ... what type of circuit boards are they using. They may have underclocked it to reduce heat so that they could save weight and physical thickness by using a different cooling system, etc.
Unless someone was on the design team and decided to underclock the CPU, then I would think they have no idea what design considerations went into that decision.
But, then again, what do I know about it? Not squat, that's what ...

When asking one if they are "dumb" ... it helps your cause if you spell dumb correctly. Otherwise ... safe assumptions can be made.

I know your not correcting spelling over the internet, especially since the word dumb is commonly spelled dum. You make yourself look like a loser correcting spelling in a forum, and to top it off its the word dum.....come on bro

No no, he is right. Calling someone "dum" and spelling it wrong is kind of ironic. In fact, it's kind of dumb.

Wow you guys are funny.
Its to my understanding that the metal block that has google on it is our heat sink.

I remember the days of overclocking my xv6700 to 550mhz. I can't really think what good it would do bumping and overclocking the processor....I been running all the emulators with no problems....and 2.1 runs fine for me.
Personally, if you have to ask about overclocking and if you should do it, then you have already answered your question.

The simple answer is overclocking a processor in any mobile device is asking for trouble. The engineers who design these devices do very precise thermo-dynamic calculations while selecting components and designing enclosure systems.
To help you understand the significance of cooling your device, do this. Open your nav program and leave it on your leg while your are driving around (this should leave your screen on as well as requiring the processor to do continuous calculations). After about 10-15 min you will notice a significant ammount of heat iminating from the back of the phone. The primary issue with temp however, is not really CPU or many MCU's installed in the phone but rather the battery. These type of batteries have a history of going "exo-thermic" or in laymens terms they can melt or even catch fire.
So in short, I would not recommend overclocking unless you are keeping a very close eye on the battery temp.
