To each his own. I was around HTC long enough from a VZW employee standpoint to know better.

Not even registering for that site, so I cut and pasted the following:

    Issue's... / Bugs.....
~Sound is Working, In-Call Sound un-tested... No Service
    ~Battery Working
~Keyboard Lights are working / They go Off with light sensor.
~USB Mount is not working, likely Different Mount Point, idk atm.
    ~Image's are not sized correctly
    ~Wifi Works
~GPS untested... Likely not working though, didn't have time to mess with it.
    ~BT Not working
    ~Data is unknown
    ~Service is Unknown
    ~Most was untested.......

This is something to get excited about? This is the BMW and not the Hyundai?
    Kia is a better anology
    How about Yugo

LOL, so now you answered your own question -- since HTC is so bad hardware-wise, we want Espresso on the Droid.

I too wanted a SENSE UI for a long time. Mainly for the stoopid social widgets, but other than that I don't see the need. What are the bonuses to the Sense UI now that Froyo can be applied just as easy if not easier, with all the bells and whistles? Sure theres no overall social widget that combines them all like a meta contact app, but thats it! I would like to see the timescape and mediascape apps deodoxed and ported over to some flavor of 2.? but I think we need to weigh the pros and cons of Sense vs. Droid.
I agree with the "because we can" aspect and we need that mentality to make foot steps forward with our cause as pioneers of the droid.

I'm not sure if any of these have been integrated into froyo, but sense ui offers:

-optional 7 or 5 home screens, in each of,
-various scenes with different icons, widgets, notification sounds, backgrounds, et al.
-applications tab includes shortcuts, to phone and one other item
-htc's music player with its full and half screen widgets, and, more importantly,
-music player controls on lock screen
    -mail and message browsing widgets
-fb update integration in contact list
-peep widget, or now, with espresso,
    -friend stream widget

and some other things i've overlooked

and some other things i've overlooked
-Advanced Launcher, ADW Launcher, many others offer this plus more
-As far as scenes not so much
-above mentioned launchers provide shortcuts in app menu button
-Mixzing offers fullscreen music widget WITH lockscreen controls
-I cant think of the name but yes there are mail and message widgets
-FB integration along with Twitter contact intergration STOCK
-Not too sure on the peep widget, I know friendstream is a no

And all of these are not just with Froyo but any 2. Rom

so it sounds like you don't actually need sense ui because

sense ui is so desirable programmers are scrambling to copy all of its features

I don't know if its so desirable as you put it, but yes the features it had exclusively last year are now available on almost all flavors. That's what open source should be. Take a lil bit of this and a pinch of that with a dash of eye of newt and *POOF* your custom droid.
