Seemingly gone are the days where an OG Droid can satisfy the need for flash-o-holics like myself.. i just got a replacement Droid (bad power button) and after rooting this one and looking around at all of the custom ROM options.. it hit me that there is just not much going on in terms of originality and stability anymore.
I had GPA14 on my other Droid before it crapped out, but bugs from that kept me from wanting to go back to it on my "new" Droid. The stability I crave in 2.2.2 is only available in short supply, with less devs opting to use it. The ones that do have seemingly kept to stock, which is boring (sorry)..
I wish i could do more in the way of helping build new ROMs but anything about creating something from scratch is way over my head.
Gingerbread is nice, but i get the feeling the OG is getting pushed to the max with it, and it seems to still lack customization. Obviously there are bigger and better phones out there.. but I got a Droid and like many others I'm stuck with it for the 2 years no matter how much I want a new phone. It is the phone that started it all, and I hate to see it fade out with no dignity, but i totally understand why it will. I'm pretty sure if i had an extra 400 bucks lying around I'd have a thunderbolt right now, but I dont so Oh well.. onto CM7 i guess, with unfortunately not much choice...
sorry, just felt the need to rant a little.
