My OG Droid's future looks bleek..

Seemingly gone are the days where an OG Droid can satisfy the need for flash-o-holics like myself.. i just got a replacement Droid (bad power button) and after rooting this one and looking around at all of the custom ROM options.. it hit me that there is just not much going on in terms of originality and stability anymore.
I had GPA14 on my other Droid before it crapped out, but bugs from that kept me from wanting to go back to it on my "new" Droid. The stability I crave in 2.2.2 is only available in short supply, with less devs opting to use it. The ones that do have seemingly kept to stock, which is boring (sorry)..
I wish i could do more in the way of helping build new ROMs but anything about creating something from scratch is way over my head.
Gingerbread is nice, but i get the feeling the OG is getting pushed to the max with it, and it seems to still lack customization. Obviously there are bigger and better phones out there.. but I got a Droid and like many others I'm stuck with it for the 2 years no matter how much I want a new phone. It is the phone that started it all, and I hate to see it fade out with no dignity, but i totally understand why it will. I'm pretty sure if i had an extra 400 bucks lying around I'd have a thunderbolt right now, but I dont so Oh well.. onto CM7 i guess, with unfortunately not much choice...

sorry, just felt the need to rant a little.

Try Droid Concepts .... woodyman is working on a new BETA 2.2.2 build that is solid. It's pretty stock ATM but he's working on adding options.

If you're looking for an option packed ROM, try Sourcery 2.2 ... it may be unsupported but it is still great ROM IMO.

    No problem ...

    Here are some links:

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...-versions.html

    [ROM Release] Sourcery ROM V2.0

^ I know that is version 2.0, but install that one then update to 2.2 via the option in the ROM. Also all the theme are flashable from within the ROM.

This thing is definitely stocked with features so it'll take ya some time to find them all

BOTH ROMS HAVE SEPARATE GAPP .ZIPS TOO! BE SURE NOT TO FORGET THEM!!

i have no idea what customization you are talking about, all the roms i see on all android phones are the same, minus a few themes. besides miui.

You surely have not tried Sourcery Rom yet. Ever since its release version 1.0 it had more features then most.

    isnt sourcery unsupported now?

i guess by customization i actually meant overall options.. i remember when there were so many custom ROMs for the Droid and in each there were a bunch of themes.. so there were many choices for each person's own person taste.. i guess im just being nostalgic haha
