This worked great thank you. My kids will love this with with their Ipod Touches and Laptops they got for xmas.

1 question though. Can VZW detect this, or will they be able to tell Ive been using tethering? I dont want them to know Im breaking the TOS. Im sure this has been asked before but Im just curious and certainly dont want to get caught.

Sometimes a "smartphone" is only as smart as its user.

Yeah I've been wondering that as well. How safe is tethering? I've never done it before.
    I now have a Droid!

    To the OP:

I got it to work very easily, the tool is great, and it SHOULD be easy, but your directions leave out key parts that will make this impossible for a majority of the people on these forums. (1st time Smartphone users/non tech losers like myself)

You might want to edit your Original post to Seperate the steps a little more clearly, and more importantly Stress that you need to have your ADB tools folder in your system Path (On your PC) or else this EXE will not recognize that ADB is installed on your PC, even if you run it from the same folder.

Here I will type it out for you (for XP) so just copy and paste this if you like
    -------------------------------------------------
    1) Root your DROID phone

2)Install Sprecovery 0.99.2b by doing the following:

-Plug in your DROID to your PC, Copy the 0.99.2b IMG file to your SD card first, then copy the Droid Root Helper APK to the SD card. (Download here: http://alldroid.org/download/file.php?id=1059
-on your phone, Install the DroidRootHelper APK using a file manager (Like Astro)
    -Run DroidRoot Helper
-Click on "Mount mtdblock3 System read/write"
    -Click "Sync"
-Click "Rename recovery-from-boot.p" (This will make sure your new Sprecovery stays permanent)
-Click on "Install and chmod busybox(installs to /system/bin)"
-Click on "Install and chmod flash_image (busybox must be installed first)
    -NOW EXIT THE PRGRAM
-your phone should still be plugged into your PC via USB (make sure you have Debug mode enabled on your phone)
-go to your dos prompt, and navigate to your ADB tools folder
-install the new SPrecovery to your phone by running the following command:

    flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-0.99.2b.img
-wait a minute or so, it should only take like 30 seconds to flash but there is no status bar or indicator so I like to wait a little bit.
-now Power off your DROID, then unplug the USB cable
-Power it on WHILE HOLDING THE X KEY
-you should now be booted into your new fancy Sprecover 99.2B, take this oppurtunity to read the menus, and make a NAND BACKUP so you can revert your phone should you EFF it up
-after it finishes, go back to the main menu by pressing the power button to back out of menus, then Reboot your phone.

    3) Now you need to do a little work on your PC while your phone start back up
    -Right click on MY COMPUTER
    -Click on PROPERTIES
    -Click on the ADVANCED tab
-Click on ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES at the bottom
-in the system variable window on the bottom half you'll see a part that says PATH, click on it so it turns blue, and click EDIT
-Click on the end of the VARIABLE VALUE field, and add the following to the end:

    ;C:\PathToYourADBtools
    For example Mine would be
    ;C:\android\tools
    -Click OK
    -Click OK
    -Click OK one last time

4)Now your ADB tools are in your system path so the EXE will know where to find them.

-Plug in your phone to the PC via USB again
    -Locate the WirelessTetherPatcher.exe
-double click on it, read the disclaimer carefully. click OK if you are comfortable/agree
-now follow the on screen instructions EXACTLY AS THEY TELL YOU, and you will be ready to go in a couple minutes, with WIFI tethering working.
