So i see with the new installation of the 2.1 it also comes with the brightness hack (to lower your brightness more)

Is there any way we can install ONLY that on 2.0.1?

second bump. i'm about to install the newest sholes rom, because it is perfect for me, everything about it is what i like, but my phone works perfect, so if its not broken, why fix it?
so, i found a .apk file in the rom thats called like brightnesshack.apk, or something like that, and it looks pretty suspicious. is there anyway to use that on a 2.0.1

sure, just drag it onto your phone and use Astro's (or any other file managers) "app manager" to install it.

Umm... I wouldnt do this. I assume that if it was this easy, everyone would know about it. Where'd you get the apk?

EDIT: whoops, i need to read more, yea go for it and see what happens. I wouldnt think that it would break anything.

so I just downloaded the Sholes rom and I extracted the brightness apk onto my phone, but when trying to open it in Astro it wont let me. Says it "could not open sdcard/brightness.apk as APK file"

Maybe you have to be rooted?

I'm too tired right now to go to my computer and I can't get the file out with my phone in bed, so I guess ill try tomorrow and tell you what happened if no one else tries first. (Just a side note, if something bad happens I can just restore my simple nandroid backup and be fine right?)

i got that error one time when someone had renamed soemthing blank.apk.zip and i extracted it instead of just renaming, i dunno if you have a similar situation or not but thats the exact error i got
