trying to get busybox up and running, help plz

ok i am using better terminal emulator pro i have busybox in /system/bin and /system/xbin i am trying the following:
ln -s /system/bin/busybox /system/bin/cp
reboot
also tried same command with /xbin/ instead of /bin/
after i hit enter after 1st command after /cp and it wont work, i saw this in metamorph thread,
am i suposed to mount or un mount system before i type that? if so what are commands without busybox lingo?
i tried unmount system in droidrootpro then tried same command again in terminal, after i hit enter it didnt say anything just went to next command line, but when i tried to reboot it wouldnt let me from the terminal. am i missing something?

note in better terminal emulator pro current settings are stock and say:
Almquist Shell, "ash" is the primary shell, box is checked
Comand Line ,specify the shell command line, i click it and its currently set to"/system/bin/sh -#/" (not sure what this is)
Initial Command, sent to shell when it starts, says "export PATH=/data/local/bin:$PATH
are all those settings what they should be for moto droid?
i just typed what i saw in hopes it would shed light
