trying to overclock droid, need help

I used z4root to start with, i only did the temporary root so this could be the problem but it z4root finishes then I use overclock widget from the market to set the cpu clocking speeds and it says "operation failure please check su command". Just wondering if anyone used "overclocking widget" and received this error. Are there any other "auto rooter/cpu over clocking app" that works? I have the droid 1 with Android 2.2.2. My phone is lagging so bad most likely because of the ram im using but I want to overclock it to get that extra performance. Any help would be great for a newb. Thanks

SetCPU works great for overclocking. It's in the market but not free however. PM me if you need help with anything.

Z4Root cannot root your device. Therefore you are having trouble overclocking.

You need to root with the first link in my signature or Superoneclick.

Thanks again, anyone know which 900-1ghz kernels Def work forlorn the Droid a855, with 2.2? I'm go NA start with superoneclick for rooting tonight.

You need to try and see what works for you. Although all Droids are theoretically the same some kernels work better on some phones than others. Some will even work on some phones and put others in a boot loop. Be sure to do a backup before trying out different kernels. Better safe than sorry.

A ROM backup or an app backup? If you want to backup your ROM then do it through your recovery. If you want to do an app backup then use either MyBackup Root (free) or TitaniumBackup (not free).

ehhh superoneclick keeps freezing on me when "waiting for phone", I tried all the help tips too.
