Clueless- rooted, wireless tether won't connect...running 2.3.3 on moto droid. HELP??

I am a super newb...my little brother rooted my moto droid since i am pretty clueless when it came to rooting and what apps, settings, etc. to use...but i am trying to wirelessly tether to my laptop, ps3. laptop detects "androidtether" but will not connect, ps3 does not detect it. all i know is he said he installed a custom rom, and that i am running 2.3.3 (gingerbread??)...help is greatly appreciated been trying to figure out for weeks how to tether ps3 via pdanet, and couldn't figure it out so i decided to let my bro tether it since he said i would be able to wirelessly tether.

Try using barnicle tether. I had problems with wireless tether in the past. Mayby its the rom your using that messes up the wireless tether app.

thanks for the suggestion...same thing with barnacle...the ssid is detected by laptop but not ps3 and can't connect.

what ROM/version do you have?

Have you tried to download wireless tether from the market again, that will sometimes help.

Sorry I don't even exactly know...but there's something called superuser?? Not sure if that helps

If you look in settings/about phone, it should tell you what ROM and version number. Example - "liquid gingerbread" or "CM7 RC2" or something like that.

I am having the same problem but no custom rom installed fresh root any pointers?

Try going into super user,hit the wireless tether app and click forget. Now open up wireless tether and give it super user again. if that doesnt work try to uninstall than reinstall the app.
