    It works!!

So completed the process using the updated instructions from 1/6/10. It works perfect. Well one thing that was answered in another post on this thread. After I ran the update to get back to 2.0.1 Nandroid was still showing when I went to run the update from the SD card. Saw down in the thread to just flash the image from the SD card again. Did that and then rebooted and ran the official 2.0.1 update and now it is if I had never done anything with my phone. I had root, 2.1, tether, everything that could be custom on the phone. Just wanted to go back to stock to maybe swap out for another droid before my 30 is up due to slightly loose screen, (which could just be normal break in period and from reading other blogs this is also an issue if you remove the stock sticker from the back of the QWERTY) Or just be stock and be ready for the official 2.1. I didn't feel like trying to hack around the custom ROM knowing that the officail is coming soon.

Thank you so much for the information and this post.

For anyone else that maybe having issue with loose screen or just wants some other things to customize your droid I found a viynl company that sells decals that fit the back of your QWERTY. They are cheap to buy and completly custom built if you want. Just contact the company and they can work with you or order from their wide selection. I am ordering mine in about a week, so no personal expeierence yet. You can find them at...

GrafiXpressions - Express yourself in vinyl form!...

And please I am in no way affiliated with them. I stumbled across them at work when I was bored and again have not gotten one yet to know how well they work.

Finally mrZoSo THANK YOU AGAIN!! YOU ARE A SAVIOR!!

If I am just rooted with nothing special but super user...can I just download 2.0.1 and shouldn't it replace the su permissions?

If your only rooted and have the super user app do this before you run the update.zip:

    su
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
