Help! "permission denied"

This is a discussion on Help! "permission denied" within the Droid Hacks forums, part of the Droid Hacking category; i downloaded adb and sdk all that drivers etc i typed cd\android\tools permission denied! help?...

    Help! "permission denied"

    i downloaded adb and sdk all that drivers etc
    i typed
    cd\android\tools
    permission denied! help?

    Where are you typing this, what operating system are you running?
    Also, if that's exactly what you typed, you need a space. Try cd android\tools\

    windows, command prompt..trying to get into adb tools.
    alredy typed adb shell also and the $ sign came up so i know im in.

    also, if you're on windows and depending where you put your sdk the command might go something like this
    cd c:\android\android-sdk-windows\tools

    also, in the custom animation guide for boot up, which 7 zip file do i download?

    depending on what your trying to do, you need to make sure your /system is mounted and if I recall root isn't supported in the adb shell in windows, sooo if you're trying to push something the command would just be adb push....don't go into shell first

    adb shell does support root, although you may need to run su to get root first.

    dredge: You can't cd to a directory on your computer if you're already in the adb shell. [If you're in the adb shell you'll see the $ or # at the beginning of the line where to type. If you aren't, you'll see whatever directory you're currently in on your computer.]

    ok i got everything erase all i said. 1 last question
    custom boot animation - did all the guy said in the guide. now it says no such file or directory when i try to do adb push bootanimation. something im doing wrong?
