Removing Stock MMS app-- safe?

Now that GB is memory intensive, I am aiming to have as little apps running at a time as possible.

Is it safe to remove the stock SMS/MMS app and just use Handcent SMS? Or does 3rd party messaging apps rely on the stock app?

Don't do it. Handcent uses the stock app, just set the notifications to off and if you're using Launcher Pro you can hide it from showing up in your app drawer with menu/preferences/general settings/hidden apps.

Yes don't do it! I tried freezing the stock sms application, then I started getting a constant fc notification until I was able to unfreeze it, wich was very hard to do.
