Trying to root a Droid 1 with Android 2.2.1

I am trying to root my brother Droid 1 with Android 2.2.1 but I am running into some problems. z4root doesn't work. I try a few through the computer but my antivirus block me from download the program. Is there anything else I can do to root it?

Guidot is 100% right. The instructions in that link is the only way to get a 100% functional phone after root. We're working, right now, on two other phones that were screwed up by trying to use one of the "one-click" root programs.

Super one click worked like a charm for my D1 on 2.2.1

yeah super one click root does it nicely. i have never used it but it pushes the files to root it to the phone for you.

nope, not at all... if its rooted wrong then its not considered rooted. usually anything that goes wrong with any rooting method is user error. i think super one click is 1000 times faster and its safer because there isn't any flashing from the bootloader taking place.
