OK, well first of all. i love this site haha, made rooting as easy as it could be for someone like me. Basically, i rooted my phone so i could get an update, and now im running GPA12 (gingerbread 2.3.2), which i got from PeterAlfonso.com. and i love it, it really runs smooth and much better than froyo for me. but i been reading threads about how to overclock (which im unsure about) and turning on wireless tethering (just cant figure it out, im a noob). i would really like some help, and i know its kinda late to be asking this but id like to know exactly how im supposed to back up my phone. thank you to anyone that can help, and i hope this isn't bad for my first post.

Congratulations on your new adventure!
Overclocking is as simple as installing a new kernel. Check out Chevy's New Compcache/GB Kernels - 2/11/11 and Raid's [KERNELS] Low Voltage 2.6.32.9 .
I've used both with excellent results. The rom you have installed will overclock the kernel or you can download Setcpu from the market and use it to control the kernel. This app will let you set the upper and lower limits for the kernel along with a lot of other parameters.
I would recommend starting off slowing with the overclocking to see what your phone will allow. Some will run at 1.25Ghz and some will not go above 1.1Ghz or so. If you get reboots and any other odd behavior, just drop down a notch and try again.
Wifi tethering is a simple as downloading the app, from the market, Wifi Tethering for Root Users.
Good luck and have fun!!

thanks alot, i appreciate it. im gonna go check this out now. i was actually trying the backup and its tellin me it needs busy box, and i cant install busybox without nand unlock, i dont know what that means. and i tried the wireless tethering app, and it keeps asking if im rooted... :\

How did you installed your ROM? Just out of curiousity. Do you have the superuser app?

Motorola Droid X: New arrival
Rooted (Z4Root)
De-odexed

OverClocked 1.265Ghz

Motorola Droid 1: RETIRED (old faithful)
Rooted (VISIONary r14)

ChevyNo1 LV 1.25Ghz Kernel

i used rom manager, and i have super user. but it no longer says superuser permittions.

ROM Mangler can be pretty goofy at times. I only use it to switch recoveries. For flashing (installing), I do that directly in SPRecovery or Clockworkmod. Been flashing since last June with 0 issues

If you like my work or I have helped you out and you would like to help with the Droid DOES!! Wedding Fund, it is GREATLY appreciated!!

How did you root your phone? Was it link one in my signature?
You can install the newest version of SuperUser in the market and also Busybox too.
SPR and RZR both have flashable update.zip's so that you can flash recovery that way. I personally am not a fan of RM, but it does work well for some people.

i remember using RSD lite which put some sorta file on my droid, than i had to load into recover and install an "update" folder. and then i installed the GPA12 (gingerbread 2.3.2). and then i was unrooted, and cant get rooted again.

Download VISONary + r14. Ive used this app time and time again to root or un-root. Its never let me down. Im pretty sure its the same guy that makes Z4Root.
