HELP!!! Newbie Trying to install 2.1 on Droid

Im having the most trouble trying to install this update. After I rename the file to update.zip and I go through the process of bringing up the android recovery system, I click on apply sdcard: update.zip it keeps giving me an error message saying the file is not found. PLEASE HELP!?!? Thanks

Are you on windows? You probably renamed it to update.zip.zip because windows defaults to hiding known extensions.

Thanks for the reply and yea I'm using windows. When I right clicked the file to rename it, I put Update.zip

SO rename it to update and try again...

Ok... So... I feel like a complete dumb ass! Lol. That was the fix. Thanks for the help!

I'm stuck on another section now. I uploaded Droid root helper and the droid root helper apk onto my sdcard. While using Astro I cant find droid root helper apk. I'm stuck like chuck right now lol.

Heres what you do:
1. Goto Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintainence>Left top corner click file types>Click View tab at top>Uncheck box for "Hide extensions for known file types"
After you do this, the file you saved to your computer should read droidroothelp.apk.zip
2.Edit the file name and take out .zip, it will auto convert to a file type unopenable by windows. Take that file and put it on your sd card..then search again.
