About LinkBacksI've been trying to grasp the concept of rooting so i can be able to do all these cool things im hearing about such as custom boot animations and 2.1 . However everytime i try to root i get
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E: Signature verification failed Installation aborted
and it clearly is there. I beleive i was able to go through the installation well once, but never got the "Superuser Permission" app
anyone help me out? please i'm extreely new to the android community. don't even know what cynaogen?? is..
about to give up on custom animation and rooting in general..

12-31-2009 11:25 AMI'm not really sure about your issues with rooting, but lucky for you you can get custom boot animations and some great apps from 2.1 without root privilieges!
Cyanogen doesn't have a Droid release, so you don't need to worry about knowing anything about it! For custom boot animations just follow the post to setup adb here:
How-To: adb for Windows, made easy?
and then follow the instructions for pushing a bootanimation here:

Do i really not need to root to change bootanimation???
i'm running 2.0.1.... i kind of am dying for 2.1.. but i think i want to wait for the offiicial release, so that all the bugs are worked out.. -

12-31-2009 12:58 PMYeah I was thinkin about switching to the 2.1 now but I bricked my phone last night so I'm laying off the modding for a while haha........I was changing around the framework and that's what did it so be careful with that if you decide to change it up
