    If you want those status bar icons and you flash liberty, you can use the watermark'd theme.

    Go under security in your settings and check "unknown sources" to allow installation of apps that aren't from the Google Play Store/Android Market.

    I was on 2.1 when I originally posted my question, then I upgraded to 2.2 Froyo :/ is that bad?

    Hmm well I'm using at&t HTC Aria Android 2.2 Froyo and it doesn't have that option :/
