Gallery from 2.1 image working on 2.0.1

Just installed the 2.1 gallery onto my 2.0.1 Droid and it OWNS!!!!! Vast improvement. It runs slow at first as the images are read and then it just cruises smoothly, even does the thumbnails with the videos. Love the perspective, cool-iris style thumbnails

I'm still having issues as well. I've installed three different ways and nothing seems to work.

Very odd, are you guys running any Home replacements etc.??

I have been using the heck out of the 2.1 Gallery in every way you can imagine, all the normal functions plus adding contact icons, changing wallpapers etc. and have never had a single glitch.

One thing I have done is when there is an option(checkbox) to set the new Gallery as default I have done that on every occasion.

IMHO it has to be another offending app causing your issues.

what apps do you have installed.... maybe we share an app that's causing the problem. I've tried everything, deleting all my hidden files off the SD card, etc.... nothing works!

i'm wondering what the heck it can be...it's wierd it worked fine when i first installed it...used it later that day an FC after FC. Tried a ton of things then installed it directly from the browser and it worked again. Then it got back into it's FC'ing issue.

At this point i'm not sure what else i can do! I love the 2.1 gallery

Even odder is if i go into the old gallery and click on an image and open it with the 2.1 gallery it works... but then when i back out back into the 2.1 gallery the FC starts again.

Phone has been rock solid. I know this wasn't designed for the Droid, but I would like for it to work because it is so much nicer.

I would try temporarily uninstalling all the media apps (any that can access videos, pics etc) and see if it stabilizes and then add them back one by one.

I am using about 80% of the ones you have (plus more you don't list) and some of the ones you list I am not familiar with so I can't comment.

BTW, did you delate the "Android" directory off the SD card? That seems to be where the new Gallery puts cache files (Android/Data/com.cooliris.media/cache and deleting it could cause an issue.

You could also try mounting and unmounting the SD card so the Gallery can reread the media files.

Also how many pics/videos do you have on the SD? Probably doesn't matter, just curious.
