Oh no, not another post on rooting

Well here I go again, with a couple of questions I feel are important to newbies. Can you root your Droid and not go any further, for a little while and not mess it up? I read something about "Easy-Root" and it confused
me. If I root my phone now and a new update (Android Operating System) comes out and my phone downloads and installs it, does that
mess up my root or what?

It's more like, "Oh no. Another thread about hacking in the wrong area."

If you have the latest update on your D1 you can't use Easy Root. So forget about that. You might be able to use z4Root but I'm not sure.

What I suggest you do is continue to read. Go down to the RS section of the forum and find the thread that's titled "How to root your Droid no matter what OS you're running." i'm on my iPad so I can't get the link for you.

I'll try and find the link for you and edit my post when I find it.

Edit. Here it is: Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

2.1 was easyroot, z4root, superoneclick and root regardless of OS.
2.2 was z4root, superoneclick, and root regardless.
2.2.1 is superoneclick and root regardless.

+1 -- nicely laid-out. So many people miss this...even tho it's everywhere lol

Superoneclick is easy as pie to root with. Just continue to read up and learn. Most of us here had to at one point ... i know i did!

I have downloaded all the files suggested in the "root your phone, no
matter what operating system" and placed them on my desktop. I will
study and then decide to either use that of attempt to get the other
    way, "oneclick. Thanks.
