Problem with apps

I have been taking my stock droid apps like the messaging app and changing the app icon and resigning the app and installing them on my phone and it works until i reboot my phone. once rebooted it sets the icon back to the original. does anyone know why this is happening.

I'm not sure why that's happening but have you considered using an app like BetterCut to change app icons instead? It's easier, it works, and it's less likely to cause trouble down the road with updates and whatnot.

I have thought about that but I don't really want to spend money on something I can do myself
