Help - Backing up ROM through ADB?

Is there a way to make a backup image of the rom.

Unfotunately my son put my droid in the toilet. The phone still boots, and is on( known by the DROID sound when it comes online.)

Problem is the screen is dead... I can see the backlight on the screen come on but thats it, no images.

Is it possible to back up the phone?

should of never powered it on......many phones can be saved if battery is removed and allowed to dry......personally i remove battery and soak phones in denatured alcohol to remove the water prevent corosion i then allow it to dry for a week or two in rice. theres a thread on here somewhere about it....as for backup im not sure even trying to fly blind through menus would work...but if you use gmail many things are backed up into the clouds for your convirnience

The only way to backup through command line would be to install a custom recovery image such as sirpsychos' from sholes.info. The installation is done completely through command line. Once installed it's a simple "nandroid-mobile.sh --backup" to backup and "nandroid-mobile.sh --restore" to restore the new phone, provided the new phone has the custom recovery also.
