trouble rooting

I just got my replacement droid after breaking the screen on my last one and was trying to root using z4root and every time it forecloses on me. Also tried installing update.zip. Was wondering if anyone can help me with this. It is a droid1 2.2.1 frg83d. Thank you.

He probably followed link 2 in my sig since that and SuperOneClick are about the only two easy solutions you have to root 2.2.1 as has been discussed in dozens of threads.

Actually I already had Easyroot from 2.1, but with 2.2.1 I couldn't use this. So I followed the first link in furbearingmammal's sig and relfashed to 2.2. After in 2.2 I was able to use Easyroot to root my phone and just redownloaded Rom Manager (which I suggest paying for and supporting) and installed Buglessbeast v0.6.1. It was a pain to figure out exactly how to reuse Easyroot, but it worked. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas
