We need a custom boot animation sticky where people can post there handiwork, hopefully with video ooo, lol just a thought, a lot easier then digging through a bunch of threads, I'm not creative enough to make my own.

Methinks that we will see very little in the way of stickies here, other than disclaimers about rooting/liability. I am making a wag here by thinking that the powers to be here have decided to avoid any potential problems with VZW by endorsing or suggesting things that violate your service terms. It is one thing to have a place where folks can discuss bomb making. Quite a bit different to sticky the recipe for making a bomb. I know it is a fine line, but all Forum Providers walk it.

Hey,
yes, Craig is rite. We kinda "fear" beeing held responsible when guys do stuff to there phone, they read here, and just crack it up. Also, i personally dont sticky things i havent done myself, and as far as i read through here and some other articles in the internets, it can be done wrong. So, why would i crack up a 500€ phone just to have a super-mario boot animation? Sure, it can be done right as well. But anyways we have to make sure to provide our users kind of proven information, and, if they are new to all the smartphone stuff and their phone is running, why should they root, use custom roms or play with SDK??
I was moderator in 2 Blackberry forums before and i KNOW how it is in the end when "newbs" trying to do something "not common" for normal users.
And if you are a specialist, and know what you do, you can for sure use the forumssearch ^^

I upgraded to 2.1 and miss my Droid boot animation. I don't hate Apple, so I really don't care for the Android alien peeing on an apple...
Why don't you replace it with the original then?
If you have adb installed and know how to use it then all you need is the original bootanimation.zip which I attached at in the following linked post: Complete Comprehensive Tutorial on Custom Boot Animations
Put that file in your tools directory(where the adb executable is)
Then it just takes one single command:
After that you should be good to go.Code:adb push bootanimation_orig.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
If you don't have adb installed or have any idea how to use it PM me and I will walk you through either getting adb to do it, or doing it through terminal emulator on your Droid.
i dont have adb either and would love to have it and learn how to use it. As of now i only use terminal emulator and want custome boot animations. If anyone is willing to help it would be greatly appreciated
