No sound from ear piece

Ok, recently once I rooted my droid i noticed that when I called people i couldn't hear anything through the ear piece of the droid. There was no sound, then, when i tried to play music on my droid it wouldn't play on the big external speaker on the back. And this is the weird part If i turn my calls to speakerphone it plays on the big speaker fine and I can only listen to music through the headphone jack. Any ideas of what the problem would b. I can also hear ring tones and notifications through the big external speaker.

I did NOT root my droid but I have the same issue occasionally (twice so far), the speakerphone works, bluetooth works but regular phone speaker does not work (didn't try headphone jack cause didn't have headphones). Reboot fixed the issue.

yea i have had that problem a few times so far, i just have to reset the phone, but thats pretty inconvenient most of the time. i havent found another way to resolve the issue yet.

i have had the same issue. hopefully it will get fixed soon not a huge problem but VERY inconvenient.

I've had this too.....VERY annoying considering, first and for most, this is meant to be a phone.
Speaking of which, where is the mic located? People are always saying they can never hear me....

I also had this same issue this morning. I made a business call three times and just guessed that maybe putting the phone on speaker would fix it. My phone is also not rooted, and bluetooth works. Music through the external speaker does not work, but playing it through the headphones does.

Hi All,

Curious if this solution will work for you. If you put a pair of head phones in and receive a call, you will likely here the phone call. End the call, remove the head phones and then attempt to receive a call and it will hopefully put the call back to the built in ear piece.

My phone has the same problems. This is very annoying and I wish it fixed.
When I call/receive a call, the ear piece of the phone doesn't produce sound- instead, it comes from the speaker. (barely) When I try to turn on the speaker, it doesn't work. Also, volume doesn't turn up, even when I hit the volume keys. I make lots of phone calls and this is VERY annoying. Please help.

My ear piece speaker hasnt worked for months. i just use speaker phone when i need to. or a bluetooth.
