DROID not as fast anymore...any suggestions?

When I first bough my droid a year ago, it was beautiful. Fast, reliable, just amazing. When the DROID was able to be rooted...I jumped on that quick. I rooted and it was even faster. But for some reason I went to stock OTS updates for a bit. And now I'm back into rooting...but its not the same. No matter what I do, my phone is really slow and laggy. I want it to be fast again. Any suggestions?

I removed some 300 pictures off of mine. Could be your step one, if you have a gallery that grew like mine.

Might be an application if its not pics.

Clear Dalvik-Cache, install an O/C Kenel, Flash a Custom ROM - just to name a few...there is also a script that will help with homesceen redraw if you are experiencing it

Clear Dalvik-Cache, install an O/C Kenel, Flash a Custom ROM - just to name a few...there is also a script that will help with homesceen redraw if you are experiencing it

What exactly is my "Dalvik Cache"..and how would I clear that? And I'm currently running BB FROYO 0.5, no overclock though. It just doesn't seem as fast as when I had BB before. And what kinda script are you talking about lol?

Things stored on the SD have no effect on the way the device performs overall - the only disadvantage to having so many pictures is that the gallery might load slow - but it is not going to make loading web pages and scrolling through homescreens slower - the options I gave are the best known fixes for the problems you are experiencing

Dalvik-Cache is where applications store excess information - if you have Root Explorer open it and go into the data folder and delete the Dalvik-Cache folder by longpressing it and then reboot - upon rebooting the system will rewrite the dalvik-cache folder but the unecessary things will be left out, speeding up your device tremendously...this should be done every month or so

As far as the redraw script...get a terminal emulator from the Market and follow these instructions


Here -
In a terminal type

su and enter
Then type echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop and enter
Then type reboot and enter


Make sure the spaces are where you see them...for example after the two > there is a space before the /
