    @ Krugster

Try installing the Bugless Beast. That will give you OC and Tether.

@nothing0...thanks, but I'm not sure I'm ready to take the plunge into a totally new interface (again...). I'd really like to get this working within as much stock as possible...

Just a quick note for anyone that just rooted using Camel's updater. Sholes 1.2 includes tether 1.70 alpha. For me, that failed in various ways. Grab the apk off code.google.com for the 2.0 beta.

Guilty as charged of not scanning this 38 page thread before posting this, credit to the first person who posted it if I'm causing an echo. I'm a moron in a hurry trying to save other people in a hurry from banging their head on the desk because they rooted for wifi tethering and find 1.70-alpha lacking joy.

got a quick question, i followed the tether directions on rootyourdroid.info and seemed to all go threw, i got the tether app now but when i turn tether on with the app i can find it in my gf's droid wifi networks when im tethering from my droid.

i dont know what else to do, i even started over and did it all again, same thing. wont pick up the network..

any suggestions? my wifi should be off on the phone im tethering from right?

The only way to get it to go away is to reboot the phone. this isn't a major malfunction as the phone still operates correctly, just annoying.

Has anybody run into this same problem?
I'm Having the same exact problem.. any known fix??

    Any suggestions?
Where did you get the "tether-2" script, I used the steps on main page and the one step install, but now i'm presented with the "unable to start tether" via app , via shell I get

    # sh tether start
    sh tether start
tether: line 1: syntax error: unexpected word (expecting ")")

I think wireless tether bricked my phone.

GUYS, I THINK I BRICKED MY PHONE USIING WIRELESS TETHER. I was surfing the web with wireless tethering and noticed I was suddenly disconnected from the network on my pc. I checked my phone and it was powered off, and HOT AS HELL. I tried turning it back on but to no avail. At first it would get to the boot screen, but now it wont even show the "M" at the beginning of the boot meaning it is doing nothing. I am not sure 100% yet if it is a dead batt, but I have been charging it about 30 min and its not working....

edit: TURNS OUT THE BATTERY WAS JUST WAY TOO DEAD... ALTHOUGH IT TOOK AN HOUR FOR THE PHONE TO REBOOT

I'm starting to go a bit crazy. my wireless tether is working fine, except for access control. I have access control enabled, but it still allows all connections through. What am I doing wrong? As far as I know it should ask you for permission for anyone trying to connect right? HELP

    Bump

I can see now that quite a few people who gotten help from the article I've written about a month ago. It walks you through rooting your phone and then getting wifi tethering access on it. It is very thorough in its explanation and simplifies a lot of difficulties that people are having.
