Overclocking is increasing the speed of your processor, making your phone run faster and smoother but it usually comes at the cost of lower battery life. As for how to do it, its different on a d1 than a d2 so you'll have to wait on that one.

Essentially the Droid 2 is the Droid 1. It has the same prosessor that is. That's why you can only overclock it to 1.3ghz if you have the right kernel on your rom. To overclock just wait until they make a rom for the Droid 2, then use setcpu to auto detect speeds.

Here's some more info - http://www.droidforums.net/forum/res...ing-101-a.html
I use SetCPU to overclock.
I went to overclocking 101 i am so confused haha, i would love to do it though, ill figure out how to do it later most likely.
isn't there an app in the marketplace that will overclock the phone. i am pretty sure you need to be rooted tho.
search DX/D2 overclock and it should come up. you have to be rooted tho, and i am sure z4Root (also in the market) will root your device with a couple easy steps.
it is simple tho, once you get those 2 apps, you should be able to use the overclock app to slide a little slider and you will be overclocked to whatever speed you want it at. but in all seriousness, you wont see much of a difference going from 1ghz to 1.25ghz. you really notice it on the original Droids since they are originally .55ghz and we can get them to 1.25ghz.
Told you same chip, same speed;)

You might not notice a difference at 1.2ghz but I do. Where you will really notice a difference is when you clock to 1.42ghz though.
