What's the deal with the manual update? Does it void the warranty? Does it require rooting? Or will it be straight from Google or Verizon? I don't have ANY experience rooting my phone or doing any customization beyond what's available on the market so rooting my phone and bricking it is just not an option
Just my opinion but I don't think they would push out an update on a Sunday.
OK... Info from my wife's Aunt who's been w/ VZW 20+yrs and a Tech Supervisor I actually spoke with is saying this... 2.1 will start rolling out on Friday 1-22-9 to appx. 5,000 customers then the 23rd next 20,000 customers then on the 24th everyone should have this update. It should take about 15-20 min to update once you receive. Hope this helps!!
I'm hesitant to believe it but at the same time, it sounds the most plausable out of all of the rumors we've heard. The date makes sense with previous rumors and the method is similar to the last update. We'll see. Also, if it IS true, hopefully its 2.1 and not just an updated 2.0 (2.0.2?).
Wait a second... where did I miss the whole battery door fix? I took a very slim piece of cardboard for a shim and put it under the cover... which has fixed it... but I didn't see an "official" fix to this issue. I apologize if I'm being redundant, but I hadn't seen it in the forums.
