The Nexus is Google's phone, so they would naturally get any updates first since they have the most 'vanilla' OS to update... Motorola has to take Google's updates and apply them to the Moto device, same as HTC has to integrate with Sense UI. Just the way it is.
Some people think we've been forgotten... I see this as a great big step toward us getting 2.1 finally

Wow with the announcement of pinch to zoom, that Apple/Google relationship must've really went to shambles. I felt like that was the last agreement/understanding between the two once allied companies.

I figured everyone might find this interesting, Nexus Ones first OTA hits and it fixes the 3G connection issues, adds a Google Maps 3.4, adds Google Goggles by default and adds pinch & zoom.
Here is the info for it someone posted
Model number – Nexus One
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2
Kernel version 2.6.29-01117-g4bc62c2 android-build@apa26 #1
Build number ERE27
Maybe we will see a Droid update of 2.1 soon now?
Makes sense for them not to push 2.1 to any other phones as long as the N1 was having the 3G connection issues. No reason to break working phones. Hopefully we will get it soon. Pinch-zoom in the default browser and especially the 2.1 gallery will be cool!

Be not downhearted, Stacman! 2.1 is nice but not nearly as nice as a good connection with 2.01 on Verizon!

I am very happy for the Nexus One owners. It's great that they have a cool phone and are getting an update so soon!
I have been very patient over this whole 2.1 update. But at this point I sure hope they are planning on getting the Droids updated soon. In my opinion several months from now is not soon enough.
Some loving attention needs to be shown to us Droid owners..... SOON! 2.1, pinch to zoom browser, maps, and gallery would be a nice way to show some love.

With all the hype and advertising that went into the Droid, I don't think it's cool to be left in the dust.
I have been very loyal to Verizon for many many years. I waited for so long to finally get a cool phone like the Droid. But it upsets me that Verizon is ALWAYS lagging in the area of the latest coolest phones. And now lagging in the latest software for the phones they do have.
They are the best out there, but don't seem to have the power to get anything.
I posted much earlier in the thread about how soon the Droid would no longer being the "darling". Don't know when that will happen but I sure hope they push us out a little more love before it happens.

I agree.
Getting 2.1 asap would be awesome (and really ease my frustrations), especially with multitouch...

It's nice to see 2.1 in action and it doesn't surprise me it's available on the Nexus one before the Droid considering the circumstances. That being said, I'd be willing to wager we'll seee 2.1 by Sunday, Feb 14th, hopefully sooner.

This thread is like a train wreck, and I just can't stop coming back to it.
