Great post Windstrings....Looks like our Tread Starter Viperboy has left the post....Out of sight, out of mind I guess or he got ticked at the harsh postings here in the beginning....He may also have gotten busy down at the VZW store selling more Droids.....Someone go down there and find him. Bring him out of there alive.
i'm going on vacation in a couple weeks and i want to know if i'm going to get roaming charges for any 3g or text used?
i have the pda plan with unlimited text and data
Make a test phone call.. you can use *611 if you like.
Once the call connects put the phone up to your ear and watch the screen with your peripheral vision.. you will notice the screen goes black as the light sensor senses its up to your head.....
Anytime that screen goes black, all buttons on the screen are disarmed or "frozen" like you say.
While the screen is black, you can hit the spot where the "hangup" button is all you want and nothing will happen... only when you pull it away from your head and the screen lites back up will the "hangup" button work.
You can test it with your hand too... put your hand up to the screen during a call and when its about 1.25 inches away it will kill the screen and turn it black.
If this is not working for you I would try to go into your settings and check or "uncheck" the auto bright button and uncheck it again or rather set it back to where it was.
This has fixed some lighting issues for some folks after the update.
You can always try pulling your battery and putting it back in.
You can also make sure your light sensor "located in the extreme upper left corner" is clean as oils or grime may change its sensitivity.

I didn't think any of the nationwide plans had roaming charges as long as you were in the Continental United States.
I don't know how may types of pda plans there are and you didn't specify... it sounded like you assume your plan is the same as everybody's.
Your fastest answer will be to call *611 and dial zero to talk to a person.

I have a quick question... i have been tethering with my Droid using pdanet and i dont use the internet for watching youtube videos and such but when i checked my usage on vzw today it said 0 data and also 0 minutes but 63 text? has verizon caught on to me tethering or something? should I expect an outrageous bill? all the data i have used tethering was 488mb.
Okay, judging from a previous post, AND the fact that no one responded to my queston about my phone, would it possibly be safe to say that there is either;
A: no one in this particular thread that knows anything on the Droid Eris, (which I might add, is still an Android phone)... or;
B: that even tho this forum is for " Verizon Droid AND the Motorola Droid" and that my phone does happen to be a Verizon Droid..... that I have come to the wrong place to get my questions answered, or at the very least, attempt to hazard a guess at best?
Considering I have looked everywhere for the answer and no really seems to know, I came here for help. It is a very frustrating situation, and I had high hopes. I guess I should have looked for a strictly Droid forum. I do not think I will be telling anyone about this site, considering evryone that I know except one have the Droid Eris.
Will stay here to get my husbands questions answered since he has the all-powerful Moto Droid, and doesnt want to join himself, but will not be asking any more questions for my self.
I am sorry I wasted both my time and any who happened to read that post.
Thank you for allowing me to join,
very dissapointed.
