Picture with text messages in them

I have a question. When I get funny text messages from friends that have a picture of some sort and it has text that goes with it the text is displayed for a short time. If it's a long sentence the screen drops the text. The picture comes up first then the text. Is there a way to control the length of time the pic and the text screens are displayed? My last phone (LG Dare) had the pic with the text right below it and did not leave the screen until you hit a button.
