Can't open WMV file

I received an email today (non GMail) with a WMV file. After trying to open it, I get a screen that says "this attachment cannot be displayed".

Any workarounds/suggestions.

Thanks.

Have you tried saving it to the sdcard and playing it from there?

Can't open WMV file

I don't see an option in the email to save it, when I press the menu button. And I can't open it to save it either.

I hope someone figures this out soon. I tried to download a video player from the market. Before I did it a message at the end of the description said: Android does not play WMV and AVI files!

Hmmm...Don't want to sound cheap but IMHO there shouldn't be a need for an app. This should be native to the Droid.

WMA, AVI, and other common file types should be supported. Where do they think we've been, or what we've had before getting the Droid? I understand the Alien Robot thing and their plan for world domination, but until then, play our movies.

Even the Jesus phone does not support Microsoft's Windows Media Video (WMV) files or Audio Video Interleave (avi) files... WinMo (or most of them) support WMV (with various levels of success) and for some reason HTC tried to incorporate WMV into the G1, but that was a big fat failure.

But my laptop will play them.
Just kidding, I know there are limitations on everything.

While you are kidding, it also highlights the point... technically even Windows does not support these file formats, and it requires an app to run (granted in the US, the WMV player is bundled, but it is still a separate app)
