    Google fights back against hacks

Well, as most people know the milestone (droid overseas from the us) did not come with google navigation. Well, it didn't take long for a hack to come out to make it available.

Google usually turns it's head to things like this. They just kind of let android go. Like with rooting. But this time, they got even. They disabled the gps hack.

Lets hope this doesn't mean they will feverishly work to patch the rooting of the droid. This may have been due to legal ramifications. But who knows....

From the read, it doesnt seem like they "got even", if Google doesnt own the rights or licencing for mapping outside the US, and those people use the hacked app, they are liable for damages. Plain and simple.

I'm not against a hack, but can see that Google would have to address that.

Not the same as the rooting issue. The discussions abound, but not allowing root access is due to the plain fact that 97% of the users out there don't have a clue, and would brick their devices.

The 3% of us who may know what were doing suffer the consequences

What about in the article when they mention making it illegal to use thier apps on a custom rom when its rooted? Or a link to that story anyway. Goog:2 Hackers:0 not 1.

Yea...its said...i explained it in the Milestone section.

In europe, google nav has copyright problems, and Motorola seems to force the sale of their own navigation software motonav, which surely is pay-nav. So Free googlenav is not what they wanna see on their phones over here -.- sad....but we got multitouch ^^
